PPG showcases low temperature curing powder coatings for wood with cure times as short as 5 minutes

PPG ENVIROCRON™ HeatSense powder coatings are designed to complement the latest advances in low temperature curing technology, addressing barriers to application of traditional powder coatings on wood substrates, such as low conductivity, warpage and moisture content changes.

PPG ENVIROCRON™ HeatSense Powder Coatings are used as a one- or two-coat process and are cured in a convection or infrared oven at temperatures as low as 250°F to 325°F (121°C
to 163°C) and cure times as short as 5 minutes, while standard powders typically require 350°F to 400°F (177°C to 204°C) and 10 to 15 minutes to cure.

PPG ENVIROCRON™ HeatSensepowder coating is ideal for wood and wood composites including medium density fiberboard (MDF), high density fiberboard
(HDF), oriented strand board and plywood.

Unlike common edgebanding products, PPG ENVIROCRON™ HeatSense
Powder coatings provide a seamless finish that, with proper application and curing, creates a durable and effective barrier against moisture, UV, heat and stains.

Specially formulated to be VOC free

PPG ENVIROCRON™ HeatSensePowder Coatings are specially formulated to be VOC-free, require less energy to cure, and can be recovered and recycled, making them ideal for companies looking for more sustainable solutions an attractive technology.

In addition to performance protection, PPG ENVIROCRON™ HeatSensepowder coatings offer design options not available with laminated products, including a sublimation process that mimics the premium appearance of stone, marble and granite.
